Smart Home means making living and/or working in a building more comfortable, safer and energy-saving by using devices that are intelligently networked with each other.

The intelligent devices themselves contain electronics that enable them to communicate with each other via a bus system and exchange data.

The networking of the devices with each other, the data bus, can be wired, but it can also be wireless.

By networking the intelligent devices, regularly recurring processes, such as closing the roller shutters at night, can be automated or it is possible to react very quickly to unexpected events, such as retracting the awning when it starts to rain.

In order for these processes to be carried out automatically, the devices must be programmed. Another advantage of using networked devices is the flexibility provided by the programming in case of a change of use or expansion of the system.

This model is intended to help the students understand the basics, the structure and the necessary components of a smart home system, to be able to programme it and use it.
